As USP&E, our vision is to be the most trusted champion of transformational energy projects in Africa. Whereas we traditionally work in the fields of power station design, equipment supply, EPC and O&M services to captive and public power projects, we are frequently also playing a junior role as equity partners in new IPP projects as well.
As an ADVISORY company with a robust Consulting Practice, USP&E works with our Independent Power Producer (IPP) clients to identify, develop, finance, construct and operate large-scale infrastructure projects across Sub-Saharan Africa with a focus on the energy sector, including power generation, transmission, fuel storage and pipelines.
IPPs across the developing world are securing contracts to build, own, and operate reliable, competitive power stations for public utilities. For instance, South Africa has a high level of Renewable Energy potential and presently has in place a target of 10 000 GWh of Renewable Energy projects. The Minister of Energy in South Africa has determined that 3 725 megawatts (MW) are to be generated from Renewable Energy sources in order to ensure the continued uninterrupted supply of electricity. This 3 725 MW is broadly in accordance with the capacity allocated to Renewable Energy generation in IRP 2010-2030.
This IPP Procurement Programme in South Africa has been designed so as to contribute towards the target of 3 725 megawatts and towards socio-economic and environmentally sustainable growth, and to start and stimulate the renewable industry in South Africa. The programs in Kenya using Geothermal Power and other countries are remarkably similar. Since, 2002 USP&E has been providing the following power station solutions for different businesses around the world:
Now in 2020, USP&E is taking a new and exciting step to invest in building our own IPP platform with several partner companies. In this regard, we have been working with several large hedge funds the over $2B in project financing and equity for qualified IPP projects.
If you're looking for an IPP to partner with in your next project, look no further. With boots on the ground in some of the harshest environments, we have vast experience in the developing world. Contact us today at:
